Hello friends,
I wanted to let you know that I am now on sabbatical from the Boston Symphony for six months; this will be a time of refreshment for me as well as a time when I can explore and do many activities that I cannot say "yes" to when I keep my regular schedule with the orchestra. I will return to the Boston Symphony - to begin my 25th season with the orchestra - in July for our summer season at Tanglewood.
I've decided to keep a diary of my sabbatical, partly at the request of many people who have asked me to do so and partly for myself so when this time is over, I will remember the nice, interesting things I've done. You can read this diary at:

I'll be updating it every few days. From there you can also find a link to my schedule page that gives information on where I will be and some of what I will doing.
I want to say, too, that while my sabbatical has officially begun now, I felt that I got a taste of it when I came to the Dutch Bass Trombone Open in September 2008. That was a tremendous event that was extremely well organized and was full of fun, interesting, engaged participants. Having time now to do a few more masterclasses, recitals and "trombone days" will be great, although it would be difficult for any of them to top the experience I had at the DBTO!
All the best,
-Douglas Yeo
