who played the Vegas shows with Elvis?

    Hello friends,

Who played basstrombone in Joe Guercio's orchestra during the Vegas liveshows with Elvis Presley? Especially the 'Aloha' show is (in)famous for it's rather prominent bassline .. Maybe (or probably) there were more guys on the job. It is quite impressive work, Elvis had a thing for the basstrb. so that's why it's so dominant I guess ..

    thanks for your reply's,

"the bass trombone range was expanded to much of it's
current application by guys experimenting. One of the earliest guys to
explore the extreme low range was the late '60's early '70's bass trombone
player at what was then the International Hotel in Las Vegas named Marty
Harrell. Marty had a killer low range and began using it in all sorts of
contexts. Next thing you know, the show arrangers were asking for and
    writing those notes."

That's great info! The Hawaii shows aren't listed, but I agree that it seems likely that he played those as well! Thanks! I've been wondering the same thing! Awesome! He looks like a sweet guy too!
